History of the Scottish Football Partnership
The
Football Trust was wound up in 2000.
- In October 2001, the SFA, sportscotland and the Government worked together
to establish a replacement body. From this partnership working, a new
independent body called The Scottish Football Partnership (SFP) was born
to meet the obligations of the former Football Trust and support football
at all levels in Scotland.
- The SFP was officially launched in November 2001 (by the then Deputy
Minister Alan Wilson).
- Eventually in 2004 after three years of complex legal negotiations,
the SFP received its share of £3.7m from the former Football Trust
funds (England received £54m).
- The SFP continues to identify other funding sources whilst supporting
our Facilities Strategy and Community Youth Awards Schemes and various other
initiatives.
